After more than two months of confinement and the closure of museums, many French people will take advantage of their free time to (re)discover the exhibitions on view this summer. It is also an excellent way for fashion addicts to take advantage of their vacation spot, in Paris or in the provinces, to reconnect with fashion history through retrospectives and highlighting different skills. Here are four that will keep you busy during your tricolor vacation.

Christian Louboutin L’Exhibition[nist]

At the Palais de la Porte Dorée, Paris 12th.
If you are spending your holidays in the capital, dive into the world of the French designer behind the red-soled shoes that are acclaimed around the world. From his sources of inspiration to his emblematic creations, passing through works from his collection: the tour looks back on Christian Louboutin’s know-how and creative process in a place that has been dear to him since his childhood. Following the confinement, the exhibition is extended until January 3, 2021.

The City of lace and fashion in Calais

135, Quai du Commerce, Calais, Hauts-de-France.
It is not an exhibition; it is an important place if you plan to take up your summer quarters in Hauts-de-France. Inside one of the last collective lace factories typical of the end of the 19th century in Calais, the visitor discovers the history of lace through old clothes and contemporary collections. The Fashion gallery emphasizes the evolution of fashion, lingerie, couture, and, more broadly, still women’s silhouette. At the same time, demonstrations on Leaver looms to provide a glimpse of one of the methods of manufacturing the precious fabric.
